Toro 7 con torero
In this painting, a bullfighter —inspired by Morante de la Puebla— walks in the paseíllo, wearing his ceremonial cape in a traditional, composed stance. Beside him, an enormous bull looms, not as a literal presence, but as a projection of the matador’s mind. The bull’s exaggerated size reflects the emotional weight carried at the start of the bullfight: the looming threat of death, the burden of taking a life, and the inner reckoning that begins with the first step into the arena. This is not the physical bull, but the imagined one — feared, anticipated, and already confronted in the bullfighter’s mind.
